The Beauty Contest and Paris's Choice

During the wedding of Thetis, an apple is thrown into the mix, and three goddesses vie for it. These goddesses are Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. They decide to give the apple to Zeus for a fair judgment. However, Zeus chooses Paris for the challenging task. Entrusting the apple to the Messenger God Hermes, Zeus sends it to Paris, who resides on Mount Ida. He instructs Paris to choose one of the three goddesses.

Initially reluctant to accept this difficult task, Paris begins receiving offers from the three goddesses along with the apple. The offers are as follows:

  1. Hera offers, "I will make you the greatest and most powerful ruler of the world."
  2. Athena declares, "Victory will always be yours in wars. I will assist you in your battles."
  3. Aphrodite, on the other hand, offers, "I grant you the love of the most beautiful woman in the world."

Ultimately, Paris accepts Aphrodite's offer among the three beautiful propositions and awards the apple to her.
